The pioneering specialty coffee group has given its renowned RTD cold brew category a major boost as it seeks greater growth outside of its cafés
A key player in the US specialty coffee movement since 1999, Stumptown Coffee Roasters later went on to become a cold brew pioneer.
The Oregon-based coffee roaster and café chain first began serving specialty cold brew in 2011 and launched its first nitro cold brew retail cans in January 2014 – two years before La Colombe Coffee Roasters and Blue Bottle Coffee launched their first retail products in the category.
Today, Stumptown purchases over a million pounds of green coffee a year specifically for cold brew and produces up to 28,000 nitro cans per day.
Most of its ready-to-drink (RTD) cans are sold within its cafés and in supermarkets, including Whole Foods Markets and Sprouts Farmers Market. Stumptown is now leveraging an existing partnership to significantly scale that reach.
