The Seoul-based operator is ahead in the race for Japan’s largest beverage size, for now...
Larger beverages have become big business in the South Korean branded coffee shop market, with Mega Coffee, Mammoth Coffee and The Venti all offering a value proposition centred on colossal drinks that are nearly a litre in volume.
None of them, however, reach the proportions of Seoul-based The Liter, which, as its name suggests, serves beverages at one litre as standard.
Founded in 2015, The Liter opened 120 outlets in South Korea last year to reach 600 stores, serving an array of coffees, frappes, teas, and blended beverages.
Following its international debut in Indonesia in 2018, The Liter has now revisited overseas expansion with a first store in Japan – a market with a growing appetite for larger cups.
