The prized sustainability accreditation follows strong sales for the Italian coffee giant last year

Florence-based La Marzocco has become the first espresso machine manufacturer to attain the much-coveted B Corp certification.

The premium Italian coffee brand scored 84.4 in its B Impact Assessment score, which evaluates businesses across five impact areas – governance, workers, community, environment and customers – to build a score out of 200. Businesses need to achieve a B Impact Assessment score of 80 or above to gain certification and are then required to recertify every three years.

La Marzocco is seeking to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its entire value chain by 2050, working with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol to offset emissions and purchase certified carbon credits from Amazon rainforest conservation projects.

Key sustainability initiatives include the installation of solar panels at its Scarperia headquarters and Accademia del Caffè education hub in Florence, which generate approximately 50% of all energy across both sites, and investments in electric vehicles for transit in Italy.

“We have always pursued excellence, and the B Corp framework is the environment in which we want to operate. Our commitment across the five Impact Areas of the Standard reflects the interdependence between our technology, people, and the environment,” said Lorenzo Carboni, CEO, La Marzocco.

La Marocco, which produces a small range of home espresso machines alongside the high-end Linea, Leva and Strada commercial models, joins a group of over 360 B Corp companies in Italy, including coffee roasters illycaffè and Costadoro. There are more than 10,500 certified B Corp companies globally.

Founded in 1927, La Marzocco has been majority owned by Italian appliance giant De’Longhi since May 2021.

In January 2026, Treviso-based De’Longhi credited high-profile brand collaborations with luxury car manufacturer Porsche and New York-based fashion label Aimé Leon Dore as driving La Marzocco’s 2025 sales growth.

Alongside Swiss super-automatic espresso machine manufacturer Eversys, La Marzocca operates under De’Longhi’s professional coffee segment – which achieved 46% year-on-year sales growth during the 12 months ended 31 December 2025 to reach €489.1m ($584.5m).
