This Belgrade-based operator has big ambitions to become Southeast Europe’s leading coffee group. Its first acquisition is a key milestone – but regional expansion will bring it into direct competition with some formidable brands

Serbian specialty coffee chain Kafeterija has completed its maiden acquisition and is exploring further M&A opportunities in a bid to become one of the leading coffee operators in Southeast Europe.

Founded in 2014, Belgrade-based Kafeterija is the largest branded coffee chain in Serbia, with 53 outlets. The boutique operator, which received new investment from Bulgarian private equity firm BlackPeak Capital in April 2025 to support expansion, also operates five stores in neighbouring Montenego, currently its sole international market.
