The much-coveted accreditation is the latest feather in the peamilk brand’s cap after it became the first food company globally to be verified according to ISO 26000 CSR standards in 2023

Swedish peamilk manufacturer Sproud has been certified as a B Corp with an impressive score of 109.4.

Founded in Malmö in 2018, Sproud has received significant investment in recent years to further its sustainability agenda and expand its reach in Horeca and retail channels, particularly in the UK.

“We are delighted to be verified by B Lab for this certification. Achieving a score of 109.4 reinforces that we see the planet as our biggest stakeholder and our commitment to being a business that is a force for good,” said Sara Berger, CEO, Sproud.

The verification from B Lab, which evaluates businesses across five impact areas – governance, workers, community, environment and customers – to build a score out of 200, is the latest milestone in the brand’s sustainability journey and reinforces its commitment to accountability and transparency.

Sproud measures its CO₂ impact through every stage of its production process and posts its carbon footprint on the CarbonCloud software database daily. In a press release, the Swedish business said its average CO₂e/kg is 0.26-0.38, which it promotes as lower than rival plant-based brands.

In April 2023, Sproud became the first food company globally to be verified according to ISO 26000, an international standard focused on corporate social responsibility (CSR).

With offices in Malmö and London, Sproud is backed by investment firms VGC Partners, Findeln Holding and Dream Beverage, as well as television presenter and entrepreneur Maya Jama. The brand, which currently exports to 30 countries, achieved 38% year-on-year sales growth in 2024 to post a turnover of SEK 58m ($6m).
