Three major US supermarkets stock the specialty coffee group’s cold brew ready-to-drink range
California-based specialty coffee roaster and café chain Equator Coffees has added nearly 1,500 supermarkets to its ready-to-drink (RTD) US distribution network.
In a press release, Equator said its cold brew RTD range will now be stocked in 526 Whole Foods Market stores, 467 Sprouts outlets, and 476 Kroger sites across the country – bringing its total distribution reach to over 2,500 US supermarkets.
Equator, which operates 11 cafés in California, said the move follows rising demand for RTD cold brew products.
“Cold brew has long been part of the Equator story – whether enjoyed in our cafés or brewed at home. Partnering with Whole Foods, Sprouts, and Kroger to bring it nationwide isn't just about scaling distribution; it’s about inviting more people to experience the care and craft that define Equator,” said Helen Russell, Co-founder and Executive Chair, Equator Coffees.
Whole Foods will stock Equator’s Smooth Black and Perfectly Sweet products, the first nationally distributed multi-serve Regenerative Organic Certified cold brews, alongside the Simply Decaf, Espresso Roast, Velvet Mocha and Oat Milk Latte varieties.
Russell co-founded Equator alongside Brooke McDonnell in Marin County in 1995. A pioneer of direct trade, the specialty coffee roaster was an early adopter of Fair Trade certified coffee in 1999 and one of the first US coffee businesses to attain B Corp certification in 2011.
Alongside its cafés, wholesale and direct-to-consumer channels, Equator also owns the experimental Finca Sophia coffee farm in Panama, which it opened in 2008 with renowned coffee expert Willem Boot.
