The re-launch, facilitated by Malaysian retail and e-commerce group Stream Empire Holdings, comes eight years after the South Korean bakery-café chain exited the market
South Korea’s TOUS les JOURS has re-entered Malaysia with an outlet at the Sunway Pyramid shopping centre in Kuala Lumpur.
The bakery-café chain opened its first Malaysian store in Kuala Lumpur in June 2013 but exited the market four years later, closing its four stores. Parent company CJ Foodville announced the brand’s planned return to the Southeast Asia country in January 2025 after awarding master franchise rights to retail and e-commerce group Stream Empire Holdings.
TOUS les JOURS joins a dozen Korean-inspired F&B brands at Sunway Pyramid, including barbeque buffet concept Seoul Garden, fast-food chain Kyochon and domestic bakery-café rival Paris Baguette, which operates 16 stores in Malaysia via franchisee Berjaya Food.
Seoul-based CJ Foodville and Kuala Lumpur-based Stream Empire will seek to leverage TOUS le JOURS’ successful operations and supply chain in nearby Indonesia, where it has 56 outlets, to support the Malaysia business and provide a blueprint for nationwide expansion. A second store will open at Kuala Lumpur’s Sunway Velocity Mall before the end of June 2025.
“We’re excited to bring the healthy and fresh values of CJ Foodville’s premium bakery brand, TOUS les JOURS, to Malaysia. With high-quality products that showcase the best of K-bakery, we look forward to strengthening our presence in Malaysia and expanding further across Southeast Asia,” a CJ Foodville spokesperson said.
Founded in 1997, TOUS les JOURS currently operates more than 1,800 stores globally, including approximately 1,300 sites in its home market and an international presence across 10 countries.
In April 2025, Seoul-based CJ Foodville credited the strong performance of TOUS les JOURS internationally, particularly in the US and Indonesia, as driving robust 2024 sales and profits. The foodservice group, which also operates premium steakhouse VIPS, Italian eatery The Place and noodle restaurant chain Cheiljemyunso, achieved 7.6% year-on-year group sales growth in the 12 months ended 31 December 2024 to reach ₩909.2bn ($624m).
