The Italian espresso machine manufacturer has hailed the judgement as an ‘important result’ for fair competition in the world’s largest branded coffee shop market

More than a year after first securing a landmark victory against counterfeiting in China, Italy’s Cimbali Group has announced another major win in court.

In April 2025, a Shanghai civil court ruled in favour of a lawsuit filed by Cimbali subsidiary Seattle Espresso Machine Corporation that focused on four Chinese companies it said were producing and marketing coffee machines that closely resembled its Slayer models.
