Barcelona-based Incapto has announced the launch of ST1, a new connected professional coffee platform designed for high-volume hospitality, foodservice, bakery and QSR environments.

The launch responds to a major shift taking place in professional coffee equipment.

In recent years, a new generation of premium super-automatic machines has emerged, designed to narrow the gap between traditional espresso equipment and full automation. These systems aim to deliver the quality, aesthetics and coffee experience traditionally associated with professional espresso machines while removing much of the operational complexity and dependence on highly trained baristas.

However, the first generation of these systems has largely occupied the premium end of the market, with investment levels that remain difficult to justify for most businesses serving coffee.

Incapto has designed the ST1 around a different proposition: bringing the ‘super-automatic traditional’ concept to the mainstream professional market, at an investment level comparable to traditional professional espresso equipment.

“We believe professional coffee is entering a new category. Operators increasingly want the quality and experience of traditional espresso, but they also need consistency, speed and simplicity. The technology to combine both already exists, but until now the economics have limited its adoption. ST1 has been designed to change that,” said Francesc Font, Co-founder and Co-CEO, Incapto.

Four coffees, one professional platform

ST1 incorporates four independent coffee hoppers, allowing operators to offer different coffees, origins or profiles from a single automated platform.

Every coffee is freshly ground for each cup, enabling businesses to create a broader and more differentiated coffee proposition without introducing the operational complexity associated with running multiple grinders or requiring specialist preparation for every order.

The result is a system designed around four principles that have traditionally been difficult to combine at scale: coffee quality, consumer choice, operational consistency and accessible economics.

Automation without giving up the traditional coffee experience

For Incapto, the objective behind ST1 is not to replace the traditional espresso experience with automation, but to bring the two worlds closer together.

Traditional espresso equipment can deliver outstanding coffee, but its performance depends heavily on training, workflow and consistency at each location. Super-automatic technology solves much of that operational complexity, but historically has involved compromises in either product experience, flexibility or economics.

ST1 has been developed to sit between those two models.

The ambition is to deliver the experience expected from traditional professional coffee equipment with the consistency and operational simplicity of a super-automatic platform, at a cost comparable to the traditional equipment already used by thousands of hospitality businesses.

This positioning opens the category to a much broader universe of operators, including hotels, bakeries, restaurants, QSR, convenience and high-traffic foodservice locations.

A connected platform built to scale

ST1 also integrates with Incapto’s connected technology ecosystem, providing visibility over machine performance, consumption and operations.

For operators managing multiple locations, this creates a further difference versus traditional equipment: coffee becomes not only easier to prepare consistently, but also easier to manage across an entire network.

“The real opportunity is not replacing the barista in a specialty coffee shop. It is improving the millions of coffees served every day in places where having a trained barista behind every machine simply isn’t realistic. Hotels, bakeries, restaurants and foodservice operators should not have to choose between better coffee and an operating model that works,” Font added.

Building a new European professional coffee platform

Founded in 2020, Incapto initially set out to provide an alternative to coffee capsules through freshly ground coffee beans and automatic machines. The company has since expanded into the professional market through a Coffee-as-a-Service model, combining coffee, connected equipment, technology and service.

ST1 represents a key platform for Incapto’s next phase of European B2B expansion and its ambition to challenge the traditional economics of professional coffee equipment.

Rather than positioning premium automated espresso as a solution available only to the top end of the market, Incapto aims to make the category accessible to the much larger base of businesses that already invest in professional espresso equipment.

ST1 began its commercial rollout in September 2026 across Incapto’s European markets.
