The Reitan Convenience-owned business is the largest branded coffee chain in the Baltics, with its domestic presence complemented by 27 stores in Latvia and a further 12 sites in Estonia
Caffeine has reached 100 stores in Lithuania with a new drive-thru outlet in the southeastern city of Varėna.
Founded in Vilnius in 2007, Caffeine is the largest branded coffee chain in its home market and across the Baltics, where it also operates 27 stores in Latvia and a further 12 sites in Estonia. In 2019, the sustainability-focused business was acquired by Norwegian retail group Reitan Convenience, which also operates the REMA 1000 grocery store network and convenience store chains Narvesen, R-kioski, Pressbyrån and 7-Eleven.
Caffeine has diversified its footprint in Lithuania over the last 12 months with larger-format bakery-focused concepts and co-located cafés within Narvesen stores, as well as via a partnership with electric vehicle (EV) charging network Eldrive Lithuania.
The new Varėna outlet is the third Caffeine store located on an Eldrive Lithuania EV charging park. The coffee chain’s roastery, which supplies all of its Baltic stores and the entire 450-store Narvesen network across Norway, Latvia and Lithuania, is also located in Varėna.
“We’re thrilled to open our 100th café right here – Varėna is our coffee’s home. It’s where our roasted organic certified coffee begins its journey across the Baltics. Even more meaningful is celebrating this milestone together with the Eldrive project – giving drivers the chance to stop by a familiar café, even while on the road. In a way, the feeling of our city cafés is now making its way onto Lithuania’s major highways,” said Saulius Žilėnas, CEO, Reitan Convenience Lithuania.
In 2020, Reitan Convenience expanded Caffeine to Norway and Denmark, where the coffee chain retains single sites in Oslo and Copenhagen.
