Coffee 24/7: Slowest growth in three years for US branded coffee chain market as Mexico booms and Canada stalls

World Coffee Portal’s inaugural Project Café North America 2027 report shows the total North American branded coffee shop market, comprising 32 individual markets, grew 3.2% to reach 61,664 outlets over the last 12 months

• Two of the three major markets featured in Project Café North America 2027 achieved net outlet growth over the last 12 months, with Canada contracting 0.1%
• Mexico was the fastest-growing major market (9%), while the US, which accounts for 77% of outlets in the region with 47,195 stores, grew 3.4%
• Of the other 29 markets sized across Central America and the Caribbean, 15 expanded over the last 12 months
• The total North American branded coffee shop market is valued in excess of $63bn
