Tres Marias has struck a deal to become the exclusive plant-based milk supplier for Costa Coffee’s 150 UAE stores next month.

The Dubai-based coffee and alternative milk manufacturer will supply oat, soya, coconut and almond milk to the UK-based coffee chain, with the partnership set to extend to Costa Coffee’s 150 stores in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia from June 2024.

Costa Coffee previously used Belgian plant-based dairy manufacturer Alpro and UAE-based dairy brand Marmum across its UAE stores.

World Coffee Portal research found almond milk to be the most popular dairy alternative among UAE consumers, with 23% typically pairing it with their coffee. Coconut milk was the next most popular at 13.5%, followed by soya and hazelnut (13%) and oat (11.5%).

However, industry leaders across the UAE and Saudi Arabia rank oatmilk as highest quality dairy alternative for pairing with coffee.

Tres Marias Coffee was founded by entrepreneur Maria Pavani in June 2019. In November 2022, the business began distributing its products to horeca partners across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) before diversifying into retail distribution last year.

In January 2024, Tres Maria was appointed as the exclusive plant-based milk supplier for private aviation firm JetEx and launched in 220 Zoom and 50 Al Maya supermarket stores across the UAE.

Costa Coffee is operated by Emirates Leisure Retail in the UAE and Alghanim Industries in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia
