Café Barbera began operations as a coffee roaster in 1870 and opened its first franchised coffee shop in Dubai in 2004. It currently operates approximately 40 outlets across 18 markets – including eight stores in the UAE and sites in Kuwait, Bahrain, Egypt and Jordan.

Saudi Arabia is by far the largest branded coffee shop market in the Middle East and is forecast to exceed 5,350 outlets by 2027. Fellow Italian operators Segafredo Zanetti, Caffè Vergnano 1882 and illycaffè also operate stores in the country.
