Scooter’s Coffee has promoted Patrick Coelho to a newly created Head of International position as the drive-thru coffee chain explores international expansion.
In a statement, Scooter’s Coffee said Coelho, who joined the company as Chief Development Officer in May 2022, will develop a strategy and timeline ‘to move the Scooter’s Coffee brand beyond our domestic border’.
The Nebraska-based company said it had been planning international expansion ‘for a couple of years’ but has not yet disclosed potential new markets.
Prior to joining Scooter’s Coffee, Coelho held several leadership positions within Restaurant Brands International, most notably as Head of Development for Burger King Americas and Head of Finance for Burger King US & Canada.
Scooter’s Coffee has appointed Kim Ellis as its new Chief Development Officer to help accelerate its US outlet growth.
The coffee chain said Ellis, who previously served as Senior Vice President of Real Estate Development at US coffee chain Black Rifle Coffee Company, will enhance its drive-thru kiosk franchise model and support franchisees through various development phases, including market feasibility and planning, site selection, real estate, construction, design and architecture.
In December 2022 Scooter’s Coffee opened its 500th US outlet. The company has set a growth target of 800 US stores within the next 12 months and 1,000 stores across the country by the end of 2024.
Ellis’ appointment follows that of Jaime Denney as Vice President of Franchise Operations and Luc Langevin as Vice President of Development, both of whom have also been tasked with helping execute Scooter’s Coffee’s ‘aggressive’ domestic expansion strategy’.
