The Jollibee Group-owned coffee chain has expanded its global footprint to 25 markets after making a delayed debut in Hulhumalé

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL) has launched in the Maldives with an outlet on the island of Hulhumalé.

The Singapore-based coffee chain, which is owned by Filipino foodservice giant Jollibee Group, announced a franchise partnership with Waterscape Investments Pvt. Ltd. to enter the Maldives in May 2024 as part of planned outlet growth across Asia.

Originally scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2024, the brand’s first Maldives store brings its global footprint to approximately 1,200 cafés across 25 markets.

Founded in California in 1963, CBTL has been part of the Jollibee Group since 2019. Alongside new market entries, the coffee chain is seeking rapid outlet growth in India, where it has signed a franchise deal with Kolkata-based Ekaagra Ostalaritza to reach 250 stores by 2030
