The travel concession operator acquired the travel hub-focused coffee chain in November 2022 and will bring it to Spain as part of a six-year contract at César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport
SSP Group will launch its AMT Coffee brand in Spain as part of a new six-year contract at César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport.
The global travel concession operator acquired UK-based train station operator AMT Coffee out of administration in November 2022, originally retaining 25 of its 43 outlets before downsizing further to 14 sites. Having ceased operations in Ireland as part of the acquisition, Spain will become AMT Coffee’s only international market and sole airport site.
London-based SSP Group will also launch jamonería concept Enrique Tomás and bar brand Tropical Sin Filtros at César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport, as well as refurbish its own brand Upper Crust and Camden Food Co. outlets.
“Our success at retaining our business at Lanzarote is a testament to the high standard of our operations at this important leisure destination, and the outstanding relationship we have built with the airport team. The brand mix promises to offer both a sense of place, while appealing to the international tastes of those flying to the Canary Islands,” said Blanca Ripoll, Managing Director, SSP Spain.
SSP Group operates over 2,900 food and beverage outlets in travel hubs across 38 markets globally. In Spain, the travel concession operator has a presence in 13 airports and two train stations, operating licensed coffee shop brands Starbucks, Tim Hortons and SOHO Coffee Co.
