The Seoul-based coffee chain has relocated its coffee supply hub from California to Texas to more efficiently supply its 12 US stores and unveiled its first drive-thru outlet
South Korea’s Tom N Toms Coffee has strengthened its US business after relocating its coffee supply hub to better serve its southern state stores and unveiling its first company-owned outlet.
The Seoul-based coffee chain made its US debut in 2010 and now operates 12 stores across Texas and California. The new flagship outlet in Houston, Texas, is also the brand’s first US drive-thru site – an increasingly popular store format for US coffee shop operators.
Tom N Toms’ latest US store will also serve an expanded breakfast and lunch menu, including a Korean-inspired egg sandwich range, with its espresso-based coffee menu complemented with Korean bingsu iced beverages, green teas and energy drinks.
“We’re combining Korean café culture with American drive-thru convenience and Houston’s appetite for quality,” said David Kim, Chief Operating Officer, Tom N Toms America.
In a press release, Tom N Toms also announced the relocation of its US roasting operations from Los Angeles to Houston to improve supply chain efficiency across its franchise system. Eight of its 12 stores are in Texas, with four sites in Houston and Dallas, respectively and four in Los Angeles, California.
“Relocating our roasting operation is a strategic move. We’re now roasting single-origin beans from Colombia right here in Texas. That gives us tighter control over freshness and lets our customers taste the quality in every cup,” Kim added.
Founded in 2004 as a 24-hour coffee chain, Tom n Toms currently operates over 400 stores in South Korea. In addition to the US, the coffee chain operates a further 67 international outlets across five markets in East Asia – China, Mongolia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Thailand.
