Katharina Keil takes the reins from Friederike Stöver following four months as Chief Operating Officer and will continue to lead the modernisation of Kamps’ 360-store estate

Germany’s Kamps has appointed Katharina Keil as its new CEO, effective 1 July 2025.

Keil, who joined Kamps in 2011 and was appointed Chief Operating Officer in March 2025, will continue to oversee the bakery-café chain’s store modernisation programme, which includes digital initiatives and menu innovation.

Since March 2025, Keil has overseen the rollout of a modern, customer-focused store design, digital ordering and a new loyalty app, as well as the expansion of Kamps’ vegetarian and vegan product ranges.

The modernisation strategy also saw Kamps unveil its sustainability-focused Kamps my Deli concept store at Duisburg Central Station in April 2025. A second site is scheduled to open at Cologne Station by the end of the year.

The concept, which features a wide range of vegetarian and vegan bakery products alongside a bespoke coffee blend from Schirmer Kaffee, will then be rolled out with two outlets at Berlin Brandenburg Airport in 2026.

Keil succeeds Friederike Stöver as CEO, with her predecessor remaining with the business as a strategic advisor.

“I know Kamps is in very good hands. I am grateful that I was able to shape the past challenging years as CEO and that, together with Katharina Keil and the management team, we have set the right course for a successful future and are moving forward with it,” Stöver said.

In a press release, Kamps credited Stöver and Keil with realigning and consolidating its operations following the pandemic, including optimising costs and production processes and refocusing on its core products, which include the classic German pastries, Streuseltaler and Franzbrötchen.

Founded in Düsseldorf in 1982, the majority of Kamps’ sites are in high-footfall transport hubs and shopping centres across the North Rhine-Westphalia region. In March 2025, French restaurant conglomerate Groupe LE DUFF acquired a majority stake in the business.
