The recognition follows major investment in the coffee chain’s UK store network over the last 12 months, including significant refurbishment projects and drive-thru site expansion
A World Coffee Portal survey has named Costa Coffee as the Nation’s Favourite Coffee Shop for a 16th consecutive year, based on a survey of more than 5,000 UK coffee consumers.
Costa, the UK’s largest coffee-focused operator with more than 2,700 stores, has invested millions of pounds into its UK estate over the last 12 months. World Coffee Portal data shows that the Coca-Cola Company-owned coffee chain opened 36 net new stores in 2025, including 21 new drive-thru sites.
In a press release, Costa also highlighted significant outlet growth in high footfall travel locations and refurbishments across more than 400 stores.
“We are incredibly proud to be recognised by our customers as the Nation’s Favourite Coffee Shop for the 16th year in a row – and have increased our favourability by 5% year-on-year. For more than 50 years, we’ve led coffee innovation at scale, driven by our vision to make crafted, premium coffee more accessible. This award is a true celebration of our baristas, partners, suppliers and the millions of customers who visit us every day,” said Nick Orrin, Managing Director UK & Ireland, Costa Coffee.
“Being named the Nation’s Favourite Coffee shop for 16 consecutive years is an extraordinary achievement. It reflects Costa Coffee’s continued dedication to quality, innovation, and hospitality,” added Jeffrey Young, Founder and CEO of World Coffee Portal parent company, Allegra Group.
Founded in 1971, Costa operates more than 4,100 stores across 39 markets globally. Outside of the UK, its largest international markets are China, the UAE, Ireland and Poland.
