UK-based premium drinking chocolate and coffee chain Knoops has appointed former Gail’s Marketing & Commercial Director Romy Miller as Chief Marketing Officer.

Miller will be responsible for increasing Knoops’ brand awareness and driving adoption of the brand’s loyalty app. In a press release, Knoops said Miller will play a key role in advancing the brand’s ambitious growth plans to reach 3,000 stores globally by 2030.

Knoops currently operates 18 UK stores and is set to open in Leeds, Bristol, York and Newcastle within the next few months. In March 2024, the business announced it had found a partner to launch in the Middle East and was in negotiations to open stores in the US and China.

“Our ability to attract someone with Romy’s experience to join Knoops validates our huge ambition both in the UK and internationally. Romy has experience in building high-profile hospitality and FMCG businesses, as well as fast-growing companies, which will be essential as we scale Knoops as a multi-channel international brand and create the hot and cold chocolate drink category across the globe,” said William Gordon-Harris, CEO, Knoops.

Miller held several marketing roles for boutique bakery chain Gail’s over an eight-year period, including as Marketing and Commercial Director from 2019-2021. She most recently served as Global Brand Director for sushi kiosk chain KellyDeli.

“Knoops is a distinctive, pioneering brand of a new category of high quality hot and cold chocolate drinks. I am thrilled to be joining the business to share Knoopology with more people to enjoy in Knoops’ own stores and at home,” Miller added.

Founded in East Sussex in 2013, Knoops has raised approximately £12m ($15.2m) to date to fund its expansion – including an £8.3m ($10.4m) investment round in November 2023.
