The Cerrado Coffee Growers’ Cooperative (Expocacer) has opened a logistics hub in Delaware, US, as part of plans to increase sales volumes and delivery efficiency in North America.

Expocacer is one of Brazil’s largest coffee cooperatives and works with 680 producers to export green coffee to more than 30 markets globally.

The US is currently the largest purchaser of Brazilian coffee globally. Expocacer expects the logistics hub to support sales growth of up to 15% in the US in its first 12 months of operations. The first shipment, containing approximately 320 60kg bags of coffee, took place last month.

In a press release, Expocacer said the site will play an important role in shortening the chain between producer and consumer.

“The Hub will open new market doors throughout the country, as it is strategically located in North America. We will be able to offer coffee with immediate delivery, in any quantity. This will be possible because now we will always have available coffee in warehouses, on behalf of Expocacer USA,” said Simão Pedro de Lima, Managing Director, Expocacer.

Established in 1993, Minas Gerais-based Expocacer sold a record 1.3 million 60kg bags of coffee globally in 2023 – 20% more than the previous year. Approximately 60% was sold domestically and 40% exported to international markets. US purchases accounted for 15% of Expocacer’s international exports and 5% of its total 2023 sales.
