Nottingham-based coffee roaster and café chain 200 Degrees has become the exclusive coffee supplier to local bakery café chain Birds Bakery.

Birds Bakery, which has 61 outlets across the Midlands, has been serving coffee from 200 Degrees in select stores since 2018 but has chosen the specialty coffee roaster as its exclusive coffee supplier following a ‘significant investment’ in coffee machines at 26 of its sites.

Only 39 of Birds Bakery’s sites currently serve coffee, according to the bakery café chain’s website.

“We’ve been working with 200 Degrees since 2018, and thanks to a rising demand for coffee spots in towns and cities due to a thriving coffee culture, we have made them our exclusive supplier across all stores where we sell hot drinks. We have invested in brand new machines across 26 of our stores. The machines use fresh milk and locally roasted coffee beans that are freshly ground for every coffee, so customers know they’re drinking a quality brew which they can enjoy alongside one of our baked goods,” said Lesley Bird, Chief Operating Officer, Birds Bakery.

“Birds Bakery is an iconic Midlands brand, and it feels like the perfect partnership. With the combination of Birds’ tasty sweet treats and our locally roasted beans, customers really are getting the best of the best. We’re delighted to build on this existing relationship and strengthen the partnership further by offering our top-quality coffee across the estate,” added Ben Brookes, Wholesale Account Manager, 200 Degrees.

200 Degrees opened a new outlet in Chester in May 2023 to bring its café network to 19 stores. The coffee roaster will open its 20th site in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire, in July 2023.

In January 2023, 200 Degrees said it planned to double its e-commerce sales and boost its wholesale channel by 35% this year following strong growth for both segments in 2022.
