Nespresso and DHL have strengthened their global logistics partnership with a new contract to provide e-commerce fulfilment services in Australia.

The deal will see DHL Supply Chain provide storage, warehousing, picking and packing of individual orders from omni-channel facilities in Brisbane and Sydney.

The new arrangement is expected to process one million orders in its first year. It marks the first time DHL has provided logistics and fulfilment services for Nespresso in the Australian market and builds upon existing contracts in Brazil, Malaysia, Taiwan, the UK and Ireland.

“This marks the beginning of a great partnership here in Australia and expands on the tremendous global partnership. The two facilities here will be a mix of manual and automation operations, featuring a pick-to-light system,” said Steve Thompsett, CEO, DHL Supply Chain Australia & New Zealand.

“We’re thrilled to partner with DHL Supply Chain with the opening of our new Sydney site to enable faster and more efficient order preparation, improving the delivery experience for our customers. Our new Brisbane site is also another important step for Nespresso in reducing our emissions locally as it minimises the need for airfreight from Sydney and Melbourne to Brisbane,” added Jean-Marc Dragoli, Managing Director, Nespresso Oceania.

Nespresso began trading in Australia in 1997 and currently operates 18 Nespresso Boutique stores across the country retailing coffee capsules, machines and accessories.
