French boutique café group Terres de Café is set to open a new store in Seoul, South Korea, the company’s first site outside of France. 
 

Founded in Paris in 2009 by Christopher Servell, Terres de Café currently operates seven outlets across the French capital, with its latest domestic store launching in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district in October 2022.  

The company, which plans to open 10 new stores in France by the end of 2023, recently outlined ambitions to enter international markets and is developing a network of global franchisees. 

Terres de Café will open its first international store on 11 November 2022, with a location in Yangjae, in the southern district of Seoul. 

Additionally, Terres de Café is targeting store expansion in Europe, Asia and the Middle East next year, although specific markets have not yet been disclosed. 

“We are delighted with the upcoming opening of new stores in Paris and Île-de-France, as well as the franchise launch of our network throughout France and internationally. This development is an essential step in continuing to democratise specialty coffee among our customers,” said Servell. 

Terres de Café joins several international brands seeking to catalyse increasing demand for premium coffee experiences in the South Korean capital. 

Japanese-based boutique coffee group % Arabica entered the South Korean market in September 2022 with a store in Seoul, while Japan-inspired French brand Café Kitsuné currently operates two stores in the city.  

Australian boutique coffee roastery ACOFFEE launched a site in Seoul in February 2021, complimenting the domestic specialty coffee scene, which includes Cerulean and SOOSOO Coffee.
