The Restaurant Group has announced it will debut Dubai café and grocery store concept Jones the Grocer in the UK next year.
The London-based fast-casual group will open two sites of the artisan café, bakery and deli concept at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 2 in 2023.
The first site, a traditional Jones the Grocer outlet, is expected to be the largest airport store in the world. The Restaurant Group will also launch a Jones the Grocer Express outlet at the airport, a smaller, convenience-focused format offering take-away coffee and food for on-the-go consumers.
Founded in 1996 in Australia, Jones the Grocer is now based in Dubai and operates over 20 stores across the UAE, Qatar, Egypt and India.
In February 2021, Jones the Grocer’s parent company, JTG Holdings Ltd, announced an ambitious global expansion target of 200 new stores by 2026.
“We are delighted to have won this large concession award in partnership with Jones the Grocer, an excellent brand bringing a vast range of quality food options to passengers at Heathrow airport. Our agreement with Jones the Grocer is testament to our team’s ability to identify exciting brands worldwide and introduce new concepts to the travelling public,” said Mark Chambers, CEO of Leisure & Concession, The Restaurant Group.
London-based The Restaurant Group operates approximately 400 food and beverage outlets across the UK, including licensed stores of the Wagamama, Frankie & Benny’s and Chiquito brands. The hospitality group also operates a concessions business, offering bar, café and restaurant concepts for travellers at select UK airports.
