Tim Hortons has continued its expansion in the UK with the launch of a first dark kitchen to meet increasing delivery demand in London.

The Canadian chain, which entered the UK market in 2017, said that the delivery-only kitchen will allow those within two square miles of the North London location to access its products via delivery platforms including UberEats, Just Eat and Deliveroo.

“Opening our first site in London was a huge milestone for Tim Hortons, as we entered a brand-new territory, but to our delight, the opening was a huge success and demand in Park Royal is still phenomenal. This highlighted the demand for our offering within the capital, with North London being an area of interest. This dark kitchen delivery format allows us to trial a new concept, focusing on a fast delivery service throughout the day and we are excited by the potential it offers,” said Kevin Hydes, Chief Commercial Officer, Tim Hortons UK.

Tim Hortons currently operates 59 stores in the UK and is set to launch new drive-thru and high street outlets in key locations over the coming months.

The company plans to double its UK store portfolio by the end of 2023. Tim Hortons opened its first London outlet in July and will launch its largest drive-thru store in the UK later this month in Manchester.

Tim Hortons parent company Restaurant Brands International (RBI) recently hailed the performance of the coffee chain, which achieved 16.7% sales growth in its native Canadian market to reach revenues of $1.56bn in it second quarter. Its international stores segment posted 14% revenue growth to reach $270m.

Tim Hortons operates over 5,100 outlets across 13 countries, including in the US, Mexico, Spain, the UK, across the Middle East, China, Thailand and the Philippines. In August 2022 the chain launched in India with two stores in New Delhi.
