FairWave, a collective of specialty coffee brands based in Missouri, US, has acquired Minneapolis-based Up Coffee Roasters for an undisclosed sum as its bolsters its Midwest pool of local coffee companies. 
 

Launched in 2020, FairWave describes itself as a collaboration of leading local coffee brands with a passion for specialty coffee. It states its mission as uplifting coffee brands by ‘energising their businesses and celebrating their unique culture and heritage’. 

Up Coffee Roasters is the coffee supplier to over 1,000 coffee shops, restaurants, hotels and universities in the city of Minneapolis.  

FairWave said that the roastery will continue to operate under the leadership of owner David Chall and maintain its wholesale product offering in Minneapolis but will benefit from best practice from other brands in the collective. 

This includes founding companies Messenger Coffee Co and The Roasterie, which both operate café chains and roasteries in Missouri, and Spyhouse Coffee Roasters, a Minneapolis-based roaster and retailer acquired in 2021.
