Moroccan heritage coffee brand Bacha Coffee has opened its first stores in Taiwan and the UAE this month as it continues to scale across east Asia and the Middle East. 
 

Owned by V3 Gourmet – a subsidiary of Singapore-based holding company V3 Group – Bacha Coffee launched at the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store in Xinyi Xintiandi, Taipei, on 9 January before opening at Dubai Mall a week later. 

The 1,500sq ft Taipei store features a retail coffee boutique, 14-seat coffee bar and a takeaway counter – the first Bacha Coffee store globally to offer all three formats in a single space.

The Taipei store adds to Bacha Coffee’s growing presence in east Asia where it also operates nine stores in Singapore, two in Malaysia and a single site in Hong Kong. 

Bacha Coffee views East Asia as a key growth market and in August 2023 outlined plans for further expansion in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) – comprising nine cities from China’s Guangdong province and the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau – this year. Bacha Coffee will also debut in Indonesia in 2024 with an outlet at Jakarta’s Plaza Senayan shopping centre. 

The Dubai Malls outlet, encompassing nearly 2,000sq ft, comes hot on the heels of Bacha Coffee’s first foray into the Middle East with sites in Qatar and Kuwait at the end of 2023. 

Originally founded in Marrakech in 1910, the original Bacha Coffee café was located in Dar el Bacha palace and was renowned for its prominent clientele, including US President Franklin Roosevelt and UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill. V3 Gourmet reopened Bacha Coffee’s Dar el Bacha store in November 2023 following renovation. Bacha Coffee also operates a single site in France.
