Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii has announced the appointment of Alex Hanson as Field Success Manager as it pursues 150 new locations over the next five years.
The chain, which currently operates 30 stores across the US, reported strong mid-year outlet growth
in August 2022 with a 66% increase in average unit volume for the period compared to 2021.
Bad Ass Coffee highlighted Hanson’s franchising experience as being key during a ‘pivotal time’ for the brand. Hanson previously held senior franchising roles at US health retailer Buff City Soap and fast-food restaurants Teriyaki Madness and Smashburger.
“Alex will be a key player on our team to help us achieve our development and performance goals. With the growth we are experiencing, Alex’s addition to the ‘ohana comes at the perfect time as we execute our plans and commitment to our current franchise owners,” said Scott Snyder, CEO, Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii.
“I have a deep understanding of operations and profitability that will help me take Bad Ass Coffee franchisees to the next level. My knowledge, coupled with my passion to help franchise owners grow their businesses, aligns with the company’s growth goals. I’m looking forward to joining the Bad Ass Coffee team - there is nothing better than being a part of a rapidly growing company,” Hanson added.
Hanson’s appointment follows that of David Gladstone as Senior Director of Real Estate in April 2022. Gladstone was cited as a key contributor to Bad Ass Coffee’s growth in the first six months of 2022.
World Coffee Portal research found that 80% of industry leaders are positive about the sufficient growth potential for branded coffee shops in the US and that operators should be encouraged in their pursuits of expansion. Project Café USA 2023
anticipates the US branded coffee shop market will exceed 41,900 outlets by September 2027.
Founded in Hawaii in 1989, Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii also sells its own retail branded coffee, tea and merchandise via its online website.
