Ontario-based Balzac’s Coffee Roasters has appointed Randall Papineau as Vice President of Retail Operations.

Papineau, who previously worked as VP of Growth & Operations at Fresh Plant Powered Restaurants, will oversee the specialty coffee roaster and café chain’s retail business and is charged with strengthening its 16-strong café network.

In a press release, Papineau said he will support Balzac’s Coffee Roasters’ ‘overall efforts to increase scale as we continue building a super-premium offering’.

“Randall is a seasoned transformation leader with deep experience in the hospitality sector and an excellent background in tech. We are thrilled to bring him aboard in this role, with the express mandate of leading our café business to the next stage of growth,” said Christine Cruz-Clarke, CEO, Balzac’s Coffee Roasters.

Founded in 1993, Balzac's Coffee Roasters promotes its cafés as ‘providing European inspired café experiences across Ontario’. Alongside its bricks-and-mortar coffee shop chain, Balzac’s also operates via e-commerce and retail channels across Canada.

In February 2023, Balzac’s Coffee Roasters announced a new partnership with Califia Farms, which became the exclusive supplier of oat and almond milk to its 16 coffee shops.
