Black Sheep Coffee opens first airport store at London Luton

The UK-based coffee chain is seeking to reach 130 stores by the end of the year, with 30 further  sites in development and a US debut expected in September 2023

Black Sheep Coffee has opened its first airport outlet at London Luton Airport. 
 

The 79-seater store is adjacent to the terminal concourse and adds to Black Sheep Coffee’s strong presence across the London rail network, which includes outlets at London’s Aldgate, Kings Cross, Piccadilly, Victoria and Waterloo stations. 
 

The London-based specialty coffee chain currently operates 72 stores across the UK, with 30 further sites in development across the country. 


In January 2023, Black Sheep Coffee co-founder Gabriel Shohet said the business is seeking to reach 130 stores by the end of 2023 and double annual sales. The coffee chain’s like-for-like sales increased 43% year-on-year in 2022.  
 

Black Sheep Coffee, which also has a single-stores in France and the Philippines, will open its first US store in Texas in September 2023. The specialty coffee chain is planning to open 15 stores during its initial US expansion phase, with Arizona, Florida and Georgia cited as potential markets. 


In May 2023, Black Sheep Coffee signed a franchise agreement to open 250 stores across the Middle East, with a first store in Dubai, UAE, set to open before the end of 2023.
